Remembrance Day

This week we are having an assembly for Remembrance day. When I think of Remembrance day I think of how brave they would have to be! Can you imagine having to go out on a battlefield and fight for your country? I can’t. Every year schools across the globe do something for Remembrance day.  Some watch videos, some do presentations, some do musical pieces, and some just take a moment in silence. Whatever they do, it is still something. Some Families to big things for remembrance day. Some just talk about it and move on.  For some it is a day of remembering all lost family members.  For some it is hard to understand the sadness. My great grandma died on remembrance day, so I get the idea. Remembrance day is a day for remembering the people who risked their life for us by fighting in the war, and those who have passed. I love the part of remembrance day when you get to listen to “In Flanders Fields”! Here is a copy of that:

In flanders field the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row
That mark our place and in the sky
The larks still bravely singing fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow
Loved, and were loved and now we lie
 In Flanders Fields

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you with failing hands we throw
The torch be yours to hold it high
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
   In Flanders Fields

What do you think about Remembrance Day?
