A Small Town Society

Just recently, I have taken a trip to a small town where some of my family lives, and most of my family on my Mom's side was born. Now you have to understand that their population is 3,712. Our population is 817,498. You do the math. Anyway, this town is significantly small compared to Edmonton. If you think about how HUGE Edmonton is then you realize how many stores, and restaurants we have here.  They on the other side, have a very small selection, and all their buildings are old fashioned. It is a very quaint little town.

We usually don’t think about the upside in living in a big city, but we can always seem to find the downsides. In Edmonton, we have more than two thousand stores! They have maybe thirty. Now although it is much smaller, it has lot’s of nice scenery and good weather, and  is close to the beautiful Rocky Mountains!

My favourite part is the painted buildings! Along the buildings, they have cute little paintings of children and their parents, and cowboys herding cows. They are painted onto brick buildings, and it really makes the paint noticeable! Some of them are tall buildings that have windows and they paint people on them that makes them look like they are looking out their window or  doing something! It’s some really nice scenery.

Now for the questions:

1. Have you ever heard or been to Pincher Creek
2. Have you ever been to a small town? What was it like? What did you see? How many people live there?
3. Would you have any interest in going to Pincher Creek? Why?

  1. Maybe, I can't remeber. Does Lethbridge count? Otherwise I can't answer anything else. Pincher Creek does sound very nice, It seems like it would be a nice break from what we are used to everyday. That is me saying I do and why.

  2. No to answer number one. Yes to answer number two. It was quite nice. I don't know what population is there. And YES to question number three, because of the fact that it has a nice view of mountains. Or atleast that is what google showed.

  3. I would like to go to a place like that. I assume that if that considering that it is old fashioned, it would have a lot of different types of paint, colors, and other things like restaurants, dinners, and different buildings with old fashioned food. There would also probably be some nice clothing there.

There are also a lot of up sides to living in a big city compared to a small town like that one. I think that it would be nice to go to a place like that. It would be peaceful, with nice scenery, and other nice things like the quietness of the city compared to Edmonton.

People always think of the downsides to living in a big city, but if you ever did go to a small town like that, I'm sure that you would start to think about the up sides instead of just the downsides of living in a big city when you see what life is like there.

Here are the answers to your questions:
1: No, I have never been to Pincher Creek, but it sounds like a nice place to go.
2: I don't think I have been to a very small town like that.
3: I think that I would like to go to it because of the way you described it.

  5. I have never heard of that place before until now, but I would like to go to Pincher Creek because I have never been there. I have lived in a small town in Philippines called San Mateo, in Rizal. It is very nice living in a small town because you always see your friends and your school is not far away from you're house, you don't have to drive or have a taxi. In San Mateo, there is always people outside whether it's night or day, it's always loud. There always festivals and carnivals right outside our door and lots of people you can talk to. I'm not sure if small towns in Canada is loud because there is no people outside all the time but I;m not sure. Being in a place that you never been before like pincher creek gets you excited and want to go their really bad, so I think someday, somehow, I will go there.

  10. To answer your first question, I have never been to Pincher Creek and I have never heard of it. The Answer to question 2, I have Been to many small towns that I can't remember their names or their population. However, they were lovely little towns. And like the town you saw, they had paint all along the walls. They had painting of all sorts of flowers and paintings of majestic horses. However no paintings, once so ever, of people.

  11. BIG CITY UPSIDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My very well thought out grade six answers are no, no, and yes!
    Very well done, I know!

I am not going to lie but the reason why I want to go to a small town is all because of my favourite tv show, Gilmore Girls. Its about a mother and her daughter who live in the town of Stars Hollow. It is really small and everybody knows eachother, and I personally think that that would be a fun, cute little way to live.

Okay when I said live, I didn't mean actually live there. I meant fun for them, not for me. Visiting on the other hand, thats a different story. I want to go see the world. There are so many places I want to be but, if I get into that, I will be here all night!

  14. It sounds like a very nice place. Edmonton needs more artwork like the painted buildings. A nice mural of a small pond with coy in it or a western type thing like they have. We spent about 600,000 dollars on the big metal balls on White mud at fox drive. "It's art" says the government, NO! All it is a perverted joke that pops up every time you pass by. That proves my point that the government wants more perverted people in this world.

I would like to be in a small town for awhile. There are upsides and downsides.

    Good things
Silence- beautiful thing. Don't you ever want some silence once in a while? It's much beater than the average city sounds. jam, sirens, the neighbourhood stalker falling off his ladder that he was using to look through your window, the daily mugger in the back ally and the crazy guy next door trying to communicate with aliens. You need to get away from that every once in awhile.
Getting away from the neighborhood stalker- Electric fences are his weakness. Too bad we can't afford them. So the neighbor hood stalker gets 24/7 access.

    Bad stuff

Few restaurants- Only five McDonald's and a red lobster? Sad.

    Question answers
    1.No
    2.No
